Pregnant women often feel warm, and rising temperatures can make this discomfort even worse. It’s beneficial to remember some simple, easy-to-follow tips to minimize this discomfort.

Fluid Intake and What to Pay Attention to During Pregnancy
During pregnancy, especially in hot weather, it’s essential to drink plenty of fluids. Dehydration can lead to uterine contractions, early labor pains, and preterm birth. However, it is important to avoid caffeinated drinks (coffee, tea, cola) as they lead to fluid loss. Sugary, carbonated drinks should also be avoided as they increase swelling. It is recommended to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily.

Precautions to Take Before Exposure to the Sun
Pregnant women should avoid going out in the sun between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. They should always prefer shaded, breezy spots. Due to increased melatonin levels during pregnancy, the skin becomes more prone to tanning and pigmentation, so sunscreen with UVB protection should be applied 20 minutes before sun exposure.

Swelling in Feet During Pregnancy and Relaxation Tips
During the last 3 months of pregnancy, swelling, particularly in the feet and hands, is common. Hot weather and increased humidity can worsen swelling. Pregnant women are advised to elevate their feet whenever possible and to apply foot massages. Foot baths can help reduce swelling, and essential oils like mint add a refreshing effect.

Exercises to Stay Cool During Pregnancy
Intense exercise is not recommended during pregnancy as it leads to excessive sweating and dehydration. However, light activities and water exercises are beneficial. It is important to drink water after exercising.
